Virtual world seems to have become an integral part of our real world. Modern technologies and internet are something we use in our daily lives and something making it substantially easier to us. But does it make a love affair easier? Does technology make long distance relationships more feasible and easier or does it just add to the frustration of physical missing?
The Spanish hit film 10,000 Kilometres focuses on these very issues – when Aleksandra gets a one-year overseas scholarship for Los Angeles, hers and Sergio’s love will have to pass the distance test. The couple are trying to keep their love alive via a laptop screen – the only tool they possess in a battle with 10,000 kilometres standing in the way of their future together.
This is Carlos Marques-Marcet’s feature debut, which earned him Spanish Film Academy’s Goy Award for best new director. The film 10,000 Kilometres is part of The Great 5 program, dedicated to five greatest European cinemas – France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom and Spain.
