Today, on Wednesday, 18 November, at 3pm, Zagreb Dance Centre is hosting a panel of the placement and distribution of short film, with a participation of the programmer at Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight Laurence Reymon, and programmer at the Portuguese Curtas Vila do Conde Salette Ramalho. The guests of honour will share their experiences related to the key issues in production and international distribution of short films. Other discussion participants are Mario Kozina of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and Boris T. Matić, ZFF director and producer. The panel is moderated by Vanja Kaluđerčić, adviser and programmer at Sarajevo Film Festival.
The panel speakers will provide an overview of the filmmaking process from their own experience: how to raise funds, how to produce a short film and, finally, how to distribute and promote it at international festivals and through sales.
Among the activities celebrating the 10th birthday of Checkers, we will be showing short films from renowned festivals promoting the short genre and its authors – Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight and Curtas Vila do Conde films. For several decades, these festivals have been a remarkable starting and reference point to many global filmmakers. They select and promote daring and extremely innovative approaches to filmmaking – such that only the short genre allows.
