The nine days of film brought to you by the 13th Zagreb Film Festival are starting tonight with a screening of the Icelandic film Rams at Europa Cinema, 8pm. We will be joined via video message by director Grímur Hákonarson, and live by Icelandic actors Sigurður Sigurjónsson and Theodór Júlíusson, who star as two conflicted brothers Gummi and Kiddi. Rams is the Icelandic Oscar candidate in the best foreign film category and the winner of Un Certain Regard at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Aside from lasting this year more than ever, ZFF is bringing a total of 109 films to Zagreb’s silver screens in competition and in nine special programs and a series of special screenings. These year the festival is again hosting hangouts powered by Ožujsko beer at the Europa Cinema lobby and Vynil bar. The party starts on Saturday at 7pm in front of Europa with a performance of the Zagreb-based band TITS (Tihana i tatini sinovi), led by our award-winning actress Tihana Lazović.
