The most important Croatian platform for the promotion of young filmmakers, the Checker competition, is celebrating at the 13th ZFF its first significant anniversary, its 10th birthday!
The selection of Croatian short films whose directors have not yet made a feature film, was launched in 2005, at the third edition of ZFF. In a fierce competition, the Golden Pram Award and an editing computer went to Ivan Goran Vitez’s film The Last Communion.
After Vitez, who has in the meantime made two feature films, the Checkers winners include a line-up of new talented filmmakers: Matija Kluković (Slow Days, 2006), Sara Hribar (Let Me Sleep, 2007), Marin Juranić and Hana Veček (Bad Day for Captain Hook, 2008), Uroš Živanović (Cold Front, 2009), Juraj Lerotić (Then I See Tanja, 2010), Tin Žanić (Komba, 2011), Hana Jušić (Terrarium, 2012), Ivan Sikavica (So Not You, 2013) and Sonja Tarokić (On Shaky Ground, 2014).
Checkers’ 10th birthday celebration will take place at the 13th ZFF and the whens and hows will be announced on the official website.
