Fourteen-year-old Benoit leaves his rural home and moves to Paris. The first day at school proves to be a far more strenuous experience than he expected. Things change when Johanna, a new girl, joins his class. In order to impress her, Benoit throws a party and besides Johanna only three of his nerdy colleagues come: Aglaée, Red Head and Constantin. Beyond all expectations, the nervous party turns into the wildest bash of their lives. However, Benoit might have to face the toughest choice of his adolescence: to join ‘the popular kids’ or to keep the old friends… This heart-warming, honest and enjoyable take on adolescence by debut director Rudi Rosenberg screened at San Sebastian Film Festival.
Born in 1979, Rudi Rosenberg started his career as an actor, playing on television and cinema. After studying at the International Film and Television School (EICAR) in Paris, he undertook his career as a filmmaker. His graduation film, My 13, was selected in a score of French and international film festivals and won the first prize at the Arte Student Film Contest. In 2010, he made Aglaee, produced by Karé Productions. The New Kid (2015) is his latest film.
