Tuškanac 1
Due to a long-time poor offer in film art, lack of venues for running non-repertory and non-commercial, alternative and amateur film, in 2001 the Croatian Film Clubs’ Association, in collaboration with the Croatian Cinematheque, launched Film programmes at Tuškanac Cinema. This primarily met the needs of educational content for around 50 thousand high schoolers and university students in Zagreb whose studies are closely related to media culture, i.e. the history of film, as well as specific needs of film connoisseurs and cinephiles.
Despite the general and omnipresent commercialisation of film and media content, Tuškanac Cinema has remained a film and culture hub in the city, a place gathering not only bone-fide film experts, but also high school and university students, who make up the largest part of Tuškanac’s audience.
