The High Sun tells us about a forbidden love, its fragility, and its strength. Spanning three decades, the film takes place in two neighboring villages sharing a history encumbered with conflicts and intolerance. The first story takes place in 1991: prewar turmoil, road barricades and the climatic tension between the villages are not a good environment for any love, let alone the one between two young people belonging to the warring parties. The second story is situated ten years later: the war is now over but not forgotten. The scars have not healed yet and our protagonists must face them. The third story takes place in 2011: the evil, tension and doubts are still here, but it seems the time has come for a new beginning.

Dalibor Matanić has made several documentaries and shorts and eight features that have won numerous national and international awards. Some of his films: Fine Dead Girls, The Lika Cinema, Handymen. The High Sun, which he also wrote, is his ninth feature film. It won him Jury Award in Un Certain Regard program in Cannes.
