The packed auditorium of Zagreb’s Europa Cinema welcomed the opening of the 13th edition of Zagreb Film Festival. During the nine festival days, until Sunday, 22 November, it is bringing over a hundred films in 12 different programs to its faithful film-loving audience.
Before the screening of Rams, the annual Albert Kapović award was presented for the sixth year in a row at ZFF by the Croatian Producers’ Association. The award, carrying the name of the prematurely deceased founder of Croatian Audiovisual Centre, is presented to persons whose activities have greatly contributed to the quality and promotion of Croatian film. This year it was given to Vanja Andrijević, producer from the Zagreb-based company Bonobostudio, specialised in production and distribution of animated and experimental films.
Rams is the first among 13 feature films competing this year for the main festival award, the Golden Pram. Before the screening a true little film treat was presented: a video with the oldest film recording of Zagreb (made in 1911), with live musical accompaniment. The audience was greeted by two leading actors from Rams - Sigurður Sigurjónsson and Theodór Júlíusson.
Apart from lasting more than ever, this year’s ZFF is a record-breaker in the number of films, presented to the audience at Europa and Tuškanac cinemas, Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb Dance Centre, Docucinema KIC and Academy of Dramatic Art.
