At the recently closed Cottbus Film Festival of Young East European Cinema, Dalibor Matanić’s The High Sun has won three awards – best film, special award for best actress, and FIPRESCI award presented by the International Film Critics Association.
The awards were presented at the official award ceremony on Saturday evening. Leading actress Tihana Lazović accepted The High Sun’s best competition film, FIPRESCI and best actress special awards. The High Sun had its world premiere in Cannes, where it won the jury award in Un Certain Regard section, and since then it has garnered 15 festival awards. The Cottbus honours are particularly important to the film crew as in 2011 The High Sun, at the early stage, was as a project presented at the accompanying Connecting Cottbus industry market. The film was produced by Kinorama in co-production with Gustav film from Slovenia and SEE Film Pro from Serbia.
At this happy occasion we extend our congratulations to the colleagues for this extraordinary success and announce a screening of The High Sun in our special program LUX Film Day on Sunday, 22 November at Tuškanac Cinema.
Tihana Lazović will grace the official opening of Zagreb Film Festival on Saturday, 14 November, this time in a different role – as the leading singer in the band Tihana i Tatini sinovi (TITS). Join us!
